The iconic ’90s teen drama Dawson’s Creek has officially moved to a new streaming platform in the UK. All six seasons of the beloved series, which originally aired from 1998 to 2003, are now available for streaming on Prime Video.
Previously, the show could be accessed in full on ITVX, where it remains available for the time being. However, Prime Video subscribers who opt for the ad-free plan can now enjoy all 128 episodes without interruptions.
Starring James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, and Michelle Williams, Dawson’s Creek followed a close-knit group of friends as they navigated high school and later, college life. The series tackled a range of important themes, including love, heartbreak, class struggles, homophobia, and loss. It also paved the way for future American teen dramas such as The OC, Gilmore Girls, and One Tree Hill.
One of the show’s most enduring pop culture moments is the widely shared “crying Dawson” meme. James Van Der Beek, who played the title character, has spoken about his initial frustration with the meme but later embraced its humor.
Reflecting on the moment in an interview with Digital Spy, he said: “I spent six years working on that show, and somehow, it has been reduced to a two-second loop of me crying. At first, I wasn’t thrilled about it, but over time, I found it hilarious.”
He further explained that the scene was not initially scripted for him to cry but happened naturally during filming. “Looking back, it’s amusing how something so sincere ended up becoming an internet joke. It’s one of those unexpected surprises in my career that still makes me laugh.”
With Dawson’s Creek now available on Prime Video, both longtime fans and new viewers have another opportunity to relive or experience the drama that helped define a generation of teen television.
